Vegas.

Headed home from a work week in Vegas. Let's do a quick look at the best travel-savvy outfit with a few tips for making the whole security-checkpoint-dance situation a little easier.

Well start at the top and work our way down...

1. hair: if you have long hair, don't forget a hair tie. Throwing a bag over your shoulder, hot crowded airplanes, etc... Got to have some way of keeping your hair out of the way.
2. Top: I suggest flowy, basic with decent coverage, length and sleeves. This is because traveling is unpredictable. Length means when you have to bend over or squat, fall asleep slouched down in your seat, etc. you won't have to worry about any peek-a-boo situations. Sleeves because it's like the movie theatre- it always gets cold!
3. Pants: I always go full length. Again, it's always cold at some point. I usually do jeans, just because they're the standard go-to for casual. These happen to be my favorite holey, warn-in pair of miss me jeans. A week in Vegas? Why yes, I would like to wear my pajamas on the plane. However, I would not like to show them to thousands of people.
4. Socks: must wear. Who wants to put their bare feet on public property where millions of people have also pit their feet? Not this girl. I also always have socks so I can kick my shoes off on the plane for long flights. And, socks mean more warmth. It gets cold people!
5. Shoes: comfy is a given, but don't forget to wear something easily removable. No one wants to be that person taking too long at security to remove shoes. Think about laced, boots, etc. I tend to wear loafers or ballet flats. Easy peasy and comfy.
6. Accessories: I avoid most accessories. Belts must also be removed at security, so why bother? If it's necessary for function (read: holding your pants up) that's one thing, but the majority of my belt-wearing has more to do with looks. I simply skip that part in an effort to be efficient. I also avoid big bracelets, earrings or necklaces. Especially costume jewelry because it can throw the machine off and get you a quick pat-down from the grizzly security dude. No thanks! I do however suggest your favorite cardigan and a good scarf to not only give you another layer of warmth, but to also give some fun and color to your outfit without sacrificing ease or security-friendly attire.

For the whole outfit, be sure it's something you feel comfortable in. Who knows, lost luggage could mean you wear if for a little longer than planned!

Just remember: simple. comfy. layers.

That's all from me today. If ever get back to Oklahoma....

Lordy what a weekend!

Well, this weekend was a blast.

Friday: I came home from work and tried to unpack a few boxes. I spent my first night in my new home all by myself :) I slept like a rock, woke up refreshed.

Saturday: in preparation for Vegas this week I got a spray tan late Friday night. Woke up saturday looking like an oompaloompa, unable to even wash my face the night before. Put in some white trays and headed to my detached laundry room in the garage to start my (planned) ubber-productive day. Let me get detailed-- no brazzire, ratty jammies, white trays on teeth, oompaloompa face with smeared leftover mascara (which also includes the spray tan aroma, puke!), barefoot and hair nicely knotted on top of head.

I.looked.gooood.

Of course I locked myself out of my house. With no keys, no phone and no way in. Because of course Amanda ensured her safety by checking every window lock the first night alone in her new home.

That's what you get for being a thorough worry wart, red!

2 hours of attempted break-in later, I gave up and headed to meet my new neighbors. Who will be scarred for life and never invite me over for anything, most likely. Thank goodness for tiny puppies that need to tinkle early on Saturday mornings! $85 to a locksmith and half my ubber-productive day later, I re-entered my beautiful home, removed white trays and closed all blinds in embarrassment. Nice one, Amanda!

That evening was my beautiful friend Hannah's wedding. More on that later :)

Sunday: my aunt came for a visit, we had a great morning, and here I sit at 5 p.m. with tons to do and no motivation to do it. All I want to do is fill this puppy up to the brim and RELAX before Vegas insanity ensues tomorrow!

Later tater!

Two Quick Things...

FIRST:

I CLOSED ON MY HOUSE!! YAY!!! If you live in Tulsa, and you are looking to buy a house. Call KAREN. She is the most wonderful, hardworking, patient lady around. Karen Addis with Caldwell Banker. DO it!

SECOND: I'm so PROUD to be a Cowboy. GO POKES!! So many of the OSU videos really are touching, but this one is especially heart warming. Plus, it's fun and such a great celebration. So proud of those boys! We'll see ya a&m! TEACH ME HOW TO GUNDY!

My favorite kind of outfit....

Stealing an idea from other blogs, I'd like to show you what I wore to work yesterday. I always love seeing other people's cute outfits, so I hope you like seeing mine!

First off, the pic... You see the denim shirt paired with the structured, high-end-looking skirt. A surprising combo!

The kicker is the total cost for the outfit... I paid $7 for the denim shirt (walmart, Miley Cyrus line) and less than $20 for the skirt! (target, merona)

Throw in a cute necklace, a funky ring (not pictured- turquoise) and some nude heels and it's the perfect office outfit with a cool twist.

You likey? That's my favorite kind of outfit: cute, funky, and "cost-effective."

In other news, it's closing day people! Can't wait to show you the house :)

See you soon!!

Packing boxes...

Welp, today I did NOT get to close on my house. We're shooting for Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Everyone please join me in crossing fingers, toes, eyes and whatever else has any cross-ability.

Thank you.

-----------------------

In other news, I met the sellers today! They are amazing. They had a packet of information (receipts from repairs, warranties on appliances, even PAINT COLORS!) ready to go for me, gave me a little tour of the "things you must know" around the house (like how to connect the water hose to the cool turny water hose thingy) and just in general were the best people I could've asked for as sellers. I may/may not have cried right before I left. I meant to just say "thank you for the nice tour and information!" but instead my eyes got all watery and my nose started to tingle and it came out more like:

"thank you so much for being such wonderful people and making my first home buying experience such a wonderful, organized, comfortable situation! you see, i'm sort of a military brat and for the last 10-or-so years of my life i've had more addresses than I can remember and I can't express to you how LONG and how HARD i have wished for the perfect little house to come along to be MINE. So that I could have a permanent address that is actually MINE, so that I could have friends visit on weekends and stay in a guest room instead of on a couch, so that I could sit in my own back yard and enjoy the weather, so that i can cook and do laundry in my own space, so that i can buy furniture i actually like and make myself a HOME, so that i can take bubble baths and paint the walls and decorate and hang a wreath that i made on the front door and and ANNNNNDDDDD....."

and finally someone shut me up. at least that's how i remember it, but it was probably much worse. oh the embarrassment of being a crier. i cry all the time! happy, sad, frustrated.... but today? today was a happy cry.

I can't wait to close.
And once I do, I promise to post fun tutorials and explanations of all the fun things I make, cook and do (i won't even get started on all the ideas and plans i have).

Catch you on the flipside, homies!
