Headed home from a work week in Vegas. Let's do a quick look at the best travel-savvy outfit with a few tips for making the whole security-checkpoint-dance situation a little easier.
Well start at the top and work our way down...
1. hair: if you have long hair, don't forget a hair tie. Throwing a bag over your shoulder, hot crowded airplanes, etc... Got to have some way of keeping your hair out of the way.
2. Top: I suggest flowy, basic with decent coverage, length and sleeves. This is because traveling is unpredictable. Length means when you have to bend over or squat, fall asleep slouched down in your seat, etc. you won't have to worry about any peek-a-boo situations. Sleeves because it's like the movie theatre- it always gets cold!
3. Pants: I always go full length. Again, it's always cold at some point. I usually do jeans, just because they're the standard go-to for casual. These happen to be my favorite holey, warn-in pair of miss me jeans. A week in Vegas? Why yes, I would like to wear my pajamas on the plane. However, I would not like to show them to thousands of people.
4. Socks: must wear. Who wants to put their bare feet on public property where millions of people have also pit their feet? Not this girl. I also always have socks so I can kick my shoes off on the plane for long flights. And, socks mean more warmth. It gets cold people!
5. Shoes: comfy is a given, but don't forget to wear something easily removable. No one wants to be that person taking too long at security to remove shoes. Think about laced, boots, etc. I tend to wear loafers or ballet flats. Easy peasy and comfy.
6. Accessories: I avoid most accessories. Belts must also be removed at security, so why bother? If it's necessary for function (read: holding your pants up) that's one thing, but the majority of my belt-wearing has more to do with looks. I simply skip that part in an effort to be efficient. I also avoid big bracelets, earrings or necklaces. Especially costume jewelry because it can throw the machine off and get you a quick pat-down from the grizzly security dude. No thanks! I do however suggest your favorite cardigan and a good scarf to not only give you another layer of warmth, but to also give some fun and color to your outfit without sacrificing ease or security-friendly attire.
For the whole outfit, be sure it's something you feel comfortable in. Who knows, lost luggage could mean you wear if for a little longer than planned!
Just remember: simple. comfy. layers.
That's all from me today. If ever get back to Oklahoma....
